As the envoy delves further into these ruins, they encounter diverse non-human races, each with their own motives and philosophies shaped by years of survival in the chaotic lands. Tensions rise when the militant Steel Garrote intervenes, determined to impose absolute order over both native tribes and imperial settlers alike, leading to a violent siege that engulfs the Emerald Stair. The region’s fractured societies, though rich in culture and resilience, have long been disconnected from the truth of the Ekida, leaving the envoy to uncover fragments of a forgotten past that few even believe existed. Within the ruins buried beneath Shatterscarp, the envoy unearths startling revelations about the divine being who resurrected them, learning that it is a god known as Sapadal, a youthful and impassioned deity whose isolation followed a cataclysm that wiped out nearly all of the Ekida. Sapadal’s emotions and instability set them apart from the older gods of Eora, giving the envoy both power and uncertainty in equal measure. Here, the Envoy is drawn into a deep dispute among the Pargrunen, where one faction clings to their long-standing isolation while another seeks to open their gates and embrace the wider world. As the Envoy delves deeper into the ancient ruins of the Ekida, troubling revelations surface about Sapadal, the god whose volatile emotions were the root cause of numerous cataclysms that devastated the Ekidan people and ultimately led to their extinction across the region. The burden of these discoveries, coupled with the escalating political chaos among the surviving colonies, pushes Sapadal to a breaking point, unleashing violent tremors and a massive volcanic eruption that endangers every living being in the Living Lands. In the wake of this chaos, the Envoy must determine the fate of the Pargrunen homeland before setting out to confront Sapadal directly in hopes of ending the growing curse known as the Dream Scourge. Throughout these events, the Steel Garrote’s divine patron Woedica insists that Sapadal must be destroyed, warning that their unstable temperament has already claimed countless lives and will continue to bring ruin if left unchecked. The Envoy faces a choice that will define the future of the world, deciding whether to destroy the god or offer freedom and forgiveness. With that decision made, the Envoy becomes a key force in the civil war erupting across the Living Lands, aligning either with the native peoples, the Steel Garrote, or the Empire itself, shaping the final outcome with or without the aid of divine power.
